Shows in 2020

Due to my health, I definitely will not be at VCF East, and probably will not be at VCF MW either.  The bone marrow transplant still has not taken place and once it does there is a six month (or more) recovery time where I need to limit exposure to other people.

Shows are a lot of fun and it’s great to both show off my products and meet many of my customers.  Missing VCF MW last year was disappointing, but now it looks unlikely I’ll be at any shows at all in 2020.

Unless there are major health problems, I should be back to normal and be at both shows again in 2021.

Some Things are Coming from China Again

I see a lot of parts are still not available, but I’ve got enough reserves to keep building boards.  The good news is that the PC board houses are moving again, although slowly.  Normally I can plan an order for boards on a Sunday and have the boards in-hand on Friday, but boards I ordered over the weekend are still early in the production phase.  It seems unlikely they’ll ship this week, but at least the percentage complete keeps increasing each day.

Corona Virus affecting Business

I am almost out of KIM Clone circuit boards and went to order more, but my usual suppliers of boards all have the same basic message on their web page: due to so many of their employees not being able to get to work due to all the mass transit shutdowns, they are taking orders but have no definite word on when production will start again.  Besides bare boards, I also get some parts from China so this might affect other products eventually.

Currently I’ve got a decent stock of assembled boards and a lot of parts (many thousands of components!) so most orders can be filled without any problem.  The only product in short supply are KIM Clones.  Right now I’ve got a couple assembled boards in stock but will ship the last bare board on Monday.  All current orders for bare boards will be shipped, but then I’ll be out of stock of the bare boards.

Even a tiny business like mine is affected by events in other countries!

I will contact a few American companies about being alternate suppliers but in the past the delivery times were very long and the price per board is more than I charge my customers.  Ie, a money losing situation.
