Kits Added for Some Products

Today I added kit options for the SS-50 Prototyping, the SS-30 Prototyping, and the large SS-30 Prototyping boards.  A customer had requested some of these and it seemed like a good idea.

If there are other products you would like to see as kits, drop me an email.  It is very rare that I do not have all the parts required to build at least one of everything in my catalog so “kitting” is just a matter of bagging up the pieces.  My assumption is that the buyer can identify parts and solder well… I loved building Heathkits but nothing like those assembly manuals are included with any of my kits.

Supply Chain Issues

In the past there have been times when some components are not available from my usual sources but I have always found another supplier with the same part and could keep building.

Well, things are getting more bleak now, as several chips are now out of stock at my usual suppliers so I am being forced to buy from overseas companies that I do not have a solid relationship with.  Shipping delays are also a problem; most US based distributors get orders to me in less than a week but sometimes overseas vendors take a month or more.  I was lucky enough to find a small quantity of one part with a US distributor so I bought their entire inventory.

Some of the parts from US distributors have lead times of 42 to 60 weeks.  Maybe the right containers will show up at a port much more quickly, but who knows.

Right now, everything is in production, but some products might be hard to build in the near future.
