Upcoming Events

If you look at the “Upcoming Events” menu bar to the right, you’ll notice two new events: Trenton Computer Fest (better known as just TCF), which is a virtual event this year, and the VCF Swap Meet.

My plan is to attend the swap meet but I’m not sure if I’ll be displaying much Corsham Tech stuff or just trying to sell off some excess test equipment, a CRT or two, etc.  It is an outdoor event and everyone will be wearing masks so the risk should be minimal.  If there is something you’d like to see, play with and/or purchase, let me know in advance so I can bring it.  My generator should be along as well so equipment can be demonstrated.

Updates

I’m almost done with my second week of full-time employment and am getting into the swing of things again.  My lab at home was never very neat, but now there are more pieces of equipment on one workbench, and my main KIM Clone was moved to a shelf to make room for the company laptop.  It’s good to be working full-time again.  It does limit the amount of time available for Corsham Tech, and even in the evening when I head into the lab to work, I usually log into the work computer and look through projects there too.

I’ve been reworking some circuit boards with the new CAD package and have gotten a fairly good handle on the quirks unique to it.  More and more of the older circuit boards are being produced with the new CAD program and will start being sent out as new revisions.  You’ll probably notice odd version numbers.  Each re-spin gets the version number incremented, then a “k” and another digit.  So, if the existing board was revision 5, then the new version will be 6k1.  If there are problems there, then the next version is 6k2.  Eventually the k part will be dropped and it will become just revision 6.

The SS-30 serial board, SD shield, SYM/AIM memory, KIM Clone I/O and 22/44 pin extender boards have been built with the new package and will start shipping once the inventory of the existing boards is exhausted.  The serial board was the first SS-30 board I made, about seven years ago.  Next to switch over are the SS-50 6800 CPU and KIM Clone.  As my inventory of existing boards runs low, they will get moved to the new CAD package and new boards spun.  There were a couple changes that needed to be made on the SD shield so the time was right to re-do it.

Anyway, orders are slowing down a bit so I am able to keep up with demand again.  During spare time I work on building up inventory again by building boards; did a bunch of SS-30 serial and parallel cards this evening.  Tomorrow night will be for SS-50 motherboards.  Friday might be SS-50 CPU boards.  There is always something to do.
